Lovely Assistant

Lovely Assistant emerged from the Newcastle music scene in 2017. Their music explores the sounds of Laurel Canyon in the 70s, alongside bygone grooves of College Rock and the New Wave. Combining tender vocals with shimmering instrumental arrangements, their work has been described as new lounge, spartan-jazz and indie folk.

Working out of a community centre in the North-East of England, their debut album ‘greetings from the pre-wave’ – influenced by the torch-songs of the 50s through to J.J. Cale, Arthur Russell, Little Feat and Angel Olsen – came out on vinyl in 2020.

Running time: 1 hour 45 mins including interval
