Drama workshops – Cumbria and County Durham

This week we’re excited to have award-winning children’s author Oliver Sykes in schools in County Durham, for Drama workshops with children at Butterknowle, Woodland and Evenwood primaries.
Oliver is also visiting schools in Eden Valley, Cumbria and will be at Bolton Primary and Asby Endowed Primary School. There will also be a special Eden District Council funded performance for the whole school at Asby, on 3rd March, in partnership with cultural consultancy, We Are Team.

Oliver’s show Alfie’s First Fight is touring with Highlights very soon! – https://highlightsnorth.co.uk/event/alfies-first-fight/

Written and performed by Oliver Sykes, the story is inspired by Oliver’s experiences of growing up without a mum and being coached as an amateur boxer by his dad. The show centres itself around shy twelve-year-old Alfie who decides to go in search of his missing older brother, Jacob, but… He disappears moments before an all-important boxing match.

On the surface, Alfie’s First Fight is a simple adventure story. But it’s also about love, loss, family and learning how to fight for what you want.
