Big thanks as always, to our Promoters Chris, Kathryn, Debbie and Matthew at Levens, Orton, Arnside and Casterton who have very generously supported this season’s Young Promoter, Olivia, from Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale. With their help at venues, Olivia has been able to help back stage, meet artists/companies and find out about the work involved in running and coordinating events.
Donnelly and South’s Christmas Cracker was a wonderfully festive show featuring two talented performers and a lighthearted atmosphere. With just a simple set of guitars and a fiddle, they managed to fill the hall with Christmas spirit and beautiful vocals.
Their charismatic attitudes persuaded somewhat reluctant but thoroughly entertaining audience participation at various points during the show. The music was a mix of original folk music, several medleys, some of which were witty parodies of traditions, and at some point (literally) side-splitting comedy. Topped with heartwarming mnemonics and childish antics, I think that this show is a great addition to anyone’s Christmas season.
