We’re delighted to welcome Performance poet Sarah Crutwell, who will be working with Highlights for the first time this September, as part of our Participate project, Rural Young Creatives. Sarah will be leading Poetry workshops with children and young people at some new schools around Stanley, County Durham. She will visit Catchgate Primary School, Tanfield Lea Primary School and Tanfield School.
Sarah is a Spoken Word Performer, Writer and Workshop Facilitator based in Blackhall Colliery, Hartlepool in the North East. Her work aims to address the things we lower our voices to talk about and explores areas such as mental health, sexuality, gender roles, ingrained sexism and freedom of choice. With a background in theatre and a strong intersectional feminist values, her performance is engaging, thought-provoking and progressive with a mischievous tone.
