Rube and Rake
Rube & Rake engage audiences with a mixture of stories, intricate guitar work, and rich vocal harmonies, singings. After working together for the past 6 years out of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Josh Sandu and Andrew Laite, natives of Canada’s West Coast and East Coast respectively, sing about a 21st century Canadian experience, unconfined by a single region or musical style.
East Coast Music Awards 2022 Songwriter of the Year and 2020 Music Newfoundland Folk/Roots Artist of the Year award winners, Rube & Rake’s music is an exercise in creating something beyond the sum of their parts. Their original songs reflect on the nature of home, the passage of time, and the spaces where aspiration and obligation intersect. The Rube & Rake live performance combines musical precision and sensitive vocals with the pair’s approachability and easy-going humour. They have released three full-length albums, most recently Good Time After Bad in 2025.
