Exile – episode 7 of New Writing North’s podcast series Ten Words for a Northern Landscape by journalist and broadcaster Caroline Beck has just been published on Soundcloud.
Caroline’s in search of what it means to live in England’s last wilderness as she journeys across the uplands of Weardale, meeting and talking with Syrian refugees, curators and poets. In the episode she also visits Highlights’ Craft+Conflict Craft Tour, curated by artist and author Karen Babayan in her former role as Highlights Craft Tour Officer, where she meets a group of Syrian refugees attending the exhibition at St. Thomas’ Church Hall in Stanhope.
