Duane Forrest at Bardsea Malt Kiln Village Hall

A black musician with dreadlocks plays guitar on stage in a small venue, facing a seated audience. The atmosphere is intimate and focused, with people engaged in the performance.

It was a triple celebration for Highlights last week, as we opened our Autumn 2025 season with a sold-out show in a venue new to the network.

Over 100 people packed into Bardsea Malt Kiln Village Hall last night, to enjoy the first performance of the Highlights season: Bob Marley – How Reggae Changed the World.

Duane Forrest is a charming storyteller as well as musician. At Bardsea, he drew the audience in, as he recounted stories of his own life, interspersed with reggae classics and singalongs. It’s a performance that brings absolute joy as well as stunning musicianship.

The second half saw Duane perform his own music, with songs from his new album Adrift. He was joined by French singer-songwriter Johanna Baget, performing beautifully in French and Portuguese and enveloping the audience in warmth.

“It was a brilliant night, great acoustics in the hall and fantastic entertainment”
“It was a fabulous event.. great to see such talents locally. Just been listening to Jo’s CD whilst having my dinner and I’m looking forward to Duane’s album Adrift when it’s released next year”
– Audience feedback

Duane played in four of our venues over the weekend, as part of a 20 date UK tour that Highlights has coordinated. If you’re anywhere near a venue, we recommend you check him out!
