Minute of Listening
You can access these fantastic resources through the Sound and Music, the national organisation for new music in the UK. Highlights worked with composer Eddie Dobson, as part of their #CovidScoreChallenge, which is a deep listening project, responding to sound through creating musical scores and art work.

Blue Jam Arts
BlueJam Arts at Penrith, is a dynamic hub for innovative community music and arts in North Cumbria and beyond. They have an excellent range of online workshops and ensembles you can join, including Penrith Children’s Orchestra.
Cumbria Music Hub
Cumbria Music Education Hub is collaborative partnership led by Westmorland & Furness Council’s Music Service (Children’s Services). Working with the Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness Music Services, schools and educational settings within our two unitary council areas, and several local, regional and national partners, we use the ACE Music Hub Grant to support the delivery of the vision and three goals of the National Plan for Music Education.

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music
Every year at The Glasshouse, musicians participate in the Big Sing by writing songs for children and young people to learn. The theme of this year’s Big Sing is climate change. While this year’s concerts can’t take place, teachers can still get their pupils to create a mini-concert at home using the digital songbook and online tutorials.

Yorkshire Youth and Music
Yorkshire Youth and Music create music-making opportunities that change children and young people’s lives by working in partnership with schools, music services, community groups, and other organisations and institutions who provide support and services to people in challenging circumstances. Here is their online musical video series called Let’s Play that will be great for children who are struggling with their mental health.
There is also a series of videos for deaf pupils to enjoy called deaf and musical: Deaf & musical video series.
