Feedback from Schools in Northumberland and Cumbria – January 2023

What a busy month for the Participate programme! In January we’ve had a Music performance workshop from Hannabiell Sanders and Yilis del Suriel (Ladies of Midnight Blue) and an Animation workshop day in Northumberland, with Animation and Film maker Robin Webb. We’ve also had Puppetry workshops from Moving Arts Parts and a Music composition workshop with Kate Halsall (our Creative Engagement Officer) in schools in Cumbria.

We’re always grateful to Headteachers and Class teachers for taking the time to give us feedback, so we can develop the Participate programme. We’ve delighted to hear when children have been challenged, stimulated and inspired by working with artists.

“The children enjoyed everything about the workshop (especially) the teacher/student interaction; developing musical skills on various instruments; success in holding a rhythm and playing as part of an ensemble.” Arts Co-ordinator, Shilbottle Primary School

“The teaching was excellent and children learnt new DT skills – practising key skills such as cutting and design. Children were involved in the design, making and evaluation of their puppets.” Class Teacher, Brough Community Primary School

“The children loved this day and some even went home and downloaded the animation that night! Children said it was the best day ever. Some have chosen it as their career!” Headteacher, Seahouses Primary School. Watch the video HERE
